C.V. Starr Media Center
(AKA: Brewster Education Foundation Library Media Center)
The Foundation is especially proud of the high technology Media Center located at
the CV Starr Intermediate School which is helping to bring our children into the
future through hands-on experience. Mike Jumper, former principal, proposed the
development of the media center in 1998 and was granted $25,000 to accomplish this
goal. The library houses a server allowing students access to information and books
from 9 work stations. The server also connects through networks to the school's
classrooms.
Financial Aid Counseling
Each year, the Foundation provides funds to make available a financial aid counselor
to parents of college bound seniors.
50 Year Graduate Reception
The Foundation established a program of recognition for 50-year graduates of Brewster
High School. Graduates are invited to the high school commencement and a reception
is later given in their honor.
Scholars Program
At its beginning, the Foundation instituted a Scholars Dinner, to recognize the
academic achievement of our H. H. Wells Middle School students. The program is now
the Seven Year Scholars award. At High School graduation, an award is given to students
who achieved high honor roll every quarter throughout all seven years of middle
and high school.
Workshops
The Foundation has funded poetry workshops, author workshops, and training workshops
for peer helpers.
